Hello Stranger Cafe , Riverson, Kota Kinabalu

Hey y'all!
I know you must be thinking "Wow! Another food review?"
or "Wow! 2 blog posts in a week?".
Yes I am back with another awesome food review for you guys!

Back in February,
I was attending an event in Riverson which is called the Jesselton Artisan Market
and I was planning to spend my day there shopping and just chill somewhere
for the weekends.

So I came across this new cafe called Hello Stranger and thought it was such a cool name!
I heard from some of my friends that their coffee and sandwiches were really good and really affordable
so I decided to pay them a visit. Long story short, I loved my first visit and also got to know the owners of the cafe
and they wanted to have the bloggers come and review the place.
So here I am, back with another review for you guys!

Love the setup of everything in the cafe.
Loving the interior and vibes in here.
Very simple and very clean!

Hello Stranger serves Asian fusion food which ranges from Vietnamese, Japanese to Western food.
The one thing which attracted me to their cafe is the Bánh mì.
Very simple, very tasty and portion was just perfect.

They also serve coffee and tea as well as cakes.

The price range for food is around RM8 to RM20.
As for the drinks its about RM3 to Rm15.
Cakes are priced at RM12 per slice.
This place serves no pork and no alcoholic drinks as well.

Here are a couple of dishes that were prepared for us and I kid you not,
everything tasted really good!

Big Breakfast

The classic American breakfast.

Grilled Chicken Lemongrass Bánh mì

This is my favourite!
Love how juicy and tender the chicken was and how much flavour
was infused into the chicken and also the sandwich!
Very simple and yet so delicious!

Butter Chicken Linguine

I also love this!
I'm a sucker for buttermilk anything so this is just perfect!
I like that tiny hint of spiciness from the chilli padi and how creamy the sauce was.

Basil Chicken Don

If you're a rice lover, you should give this a try.
I like how it has a unique taste from the basil and also the minced chicken.

Oyako Chicken Don

If you crave for Japanese rice bowls, you should try this!
Portion is quite big and I like how much stuff is in that bowl.

Iced Latte

I love how the latte is not too bitter or sour.
Its just perfect!

Shrimp Viet Summer Roll

This is something I have always wanted to try and finally got a chance to try.
Something very different from the usual spring roll and
I love how everything goes well together especially with the sauce!

Viet Cold Noodle Salad - Tofu

Anything salad is my favourite and what's best about this salad is that it has
tofu in it! I love how tasty the tofu is and how well everything goes together after mixing them all up.
I hardly go for cold food because I love having my food steaming hot but this is an exception.
This is good too!

Chicken Katsu Curry Rice

I love how the curry taste but I just wished it was mixed with udon instead.
Not saying it wasn't delicious but I prefer udon when it comes to Japanese food.

Smoked Salmon Eggs Benedict

I didnt get to try this but the others did and I heard they said it was pretty good!
Salmon was served fresh and love how cute the presentation looked on the plate!

Mushroom & Cheese Sandwich

Mushroom and cheese always go well together no matter how they're served!
This was also one of my favourite!

Jap Chicken Curry Udon

I like how juicy and tender the chicken was and also love how the curry is cooked perfectly.
Also love how big the portion is for this one too!

Y'all know there's always gonna be desserts so here are the cakes...
Ombre Cake

Lemon Cake

Matcha Honey Cream Cake

Prestige Cake

All I can say is I love cakes and my favourite has got to be the Matcha Honey Cream
and Prestige Cake because one has green tea and the other has chocolate!
I love all the cakes to be honest because they're all not that sweet which is a good thing!

How cute is this plate!!!

So, that wraps up for today's food review!
As always, we must take a group photo.

Up2U Cafe 10th Anniversary (31st March 2018)

Hey y'all!
It has been a while since I last did a food review so today I will be reviewing one of my favourite cafes in town
which is very well known for their Shishas and also the very place I got a job is Up2U cafe.

This cafe has been around for 10 years now and I cant believe how much it has grown
and also happy with all the improvements on their food and also the condition of the place!
They are located in Damai (right next to Captain Cook).

Love how the place is a lot brighter now!
Friendly waiters and also loving the very positive vibe here.
This place serves no pork and serves alcoholic beverages as well as Shisha.

So this is their menu.
They not only refurbished the place but also made some changes to their menu.
Mixing the classic stuff with some new ones and I always love trying new things!

So for their 10th Anniversary celebration, they have prepared a special menu specifically
for this very special day which is a RM10 promo on selected meals.

Before starting the review,
we had some finger foods while waiting for main dishes to get prepared
and I'm already loving the first thing that we were served.

Onion Rings (RM8)

Onion Rings & Atomic Chicken Wings (RM10)

I highly recommend the Atomic Chicken Wings because of the sauce!
If you look closely, on one side of the chicken wings, its glazed and shiny.
As for the other side, it just your regular old chicken wings.

So what's so special bout this?
The glazed chicken wings are actually chicken wings coated in their very own atomic spicy sauce.
If you love spicy food, this is the one for you.
Spicy and sweet at the same time! A good balance of both.
Really good stuff there!

Also we had some drinks :
Happy Beach (RM5)

 TQ Berry Much (RM5)

Golden Mellow (RM5)

Sweet & Sour Fizzy Pop (RM4)

Here's the RM10 PROMO menu :
Spaghetti Carbonara (Nett Price - Rm14)

Spaghetti Bolognese (Nett Price - RM14)

Mushroom Soup with Garlic Bread

Spaghetti Carbonara or Spaghetti Bolognese
(served with mushroom soup and garlic bread)

The pastas were amazing!
Love the presentation on the plate and also love how the pasta is well seasoned!
Not too salty and not too creamy.

Next we have something that is not on the menu but only available on 31st March 2018...

 Chilli Dog (Price N/A)

 Cheesy Dog (Price N/A)

Root Beer Float (Price N/A)

Chilli Dog or Cheesy Dog
(served with fries and Root Beer Float)

The Chilli Dog is served with a chicken sausage
while the Cheesy Dog is served with a beef sausage.
I personally like the Cheesy Dog because of the taste of the sauce in it!

And next we have ...

Grilled Chicken Chop topped with Mushroom Sauce (Nett Price - RM16)

Grilled Chicken Chop topped with Cheese sauce (Nett Price - RM16)

Grilled Chicken Chop (served with a side of salad and fries.)
Sauce selection : Mushroom sauce, black pepper sauce or cheese sauce

I actually like the taste of the Cheese sauce!
I know I'm liking a lot of cheese from this menu but this particular cheese sauce
served with the grilled chicken chop taste pretty amazing and I really love how it taste.
I highly recommend trying out the cheese sauce!

Last but not least ...

Big Kahuna Burger (Nett Price - RM24)

Big Kahuna Burger
(served with fries)

This burger is massive! IT.IS.HUGE!
I heard they even have an XL version of this burger so for all you hungry people out there,
you should really try this out for yourself. This is just too sinful to watch!
I love how thick and juicy the beef patty is
and also the caramalized onions were delish!

For desserts...

Ice Cream Sundae (Price N/A)

The classic vanilla and chocolate ice cream sprinkled with rainbow sprinkles
and also mixed in with some Nata De Coco (aka coconut cubes).
Y'all know there's always room for desserts!

Mercato Restaurant | Avangio Hotel , Metro Town (Kota Kinabalu)

A few weeks ago,
Roy and I were invited to check out Mercato Restaurant, Avangio Hotel in Metrotown with some bloggers..
We were invited to dine in for their buffet session. I have never been to Avangio Hotel before
so this was quite an exciting moment for me! I have been working out HARD for the past few weeks
and all I want to do is to eat and be happy!
Body needs some food!

I really love the atmosphere in Mercato!
How can you not want to eat when its a BUFFET?

(In case you're wondering, Mercato means Market in Italian.)

Here we have the desserts! Love the whole setup!

This was my favourite section out of everything else.
They serve kuihs, Swiss rolls, cakes, puddings and loads more.

If you like finger food, they've got Samosa, dumplings, spring rolls and many more!

How often do you see a buffet serving Hinava!
Love the presentation! So cute!

They serve a variety of food ranging from Western to Asian and also some local delicacies into their menu.
Here are some of their mains which I didn't snap much of it because there were quite a number of people around
and they wanted to grab their food in peace.

Tuaran Noodles aka Tuaran Mee

Something that always reminded me of my hometown, Tuaran.
This is what we eat back at home everytime I go back to visit my grandparents when I was a kid.
Love Tuaran Mee!

Chicken Kung Pau Sauce

This was really good! Not only its tasty but it is also quite tender!
Boneless and tender. Win!

Beef Rendang with Peanut Sauce

This was also really good!
Roy took this and I tried it out and I love how it tasted!
Beef wasn't too tough but just nice and tender.

  Lamb Madras

I dont eat lamb but I know a few of the bloggers mentioned that this was really good!
Doesn't have that very strong meaty flavour that you get from beef and lamb
so that's a good sign.

If you love your chillis, this is for you!
You have chilli sauce, bird eye chilli with soy sauce, sweet chilli sauce, and lots more!

Mushroom Soup & Fish Maw Soup

I know I love the mushroom soup!
Anything mushroom is a yes for me and I like how its not the usual instant mushroom soup.
It has actual mushrooms blended in the soup.

Some bread to go with your soup or just to snack on!

Orange Cordail Juice, Air Bandung and Infused Water

You can also order coffee and tea if you don't feel like having these.

Love the aesthetics in this room!

Its been a while since we all got together and took a photo.
We hardly get to meet each other so making every second count.

Being the healthjunkie that I am, I took these and I really love everything!
Not too salty or sweet but flavour was just perfect!

I think I swept the entire plate of fruits at the dessert table because I just love fruits!
This was only a quarter of what I ate.

Mango & Honeydew Pudding

I love this pudding!
Not too sweet and the texture was just nice!

You can check out this picture right here!

You can enjoy the buffet for the price of 4 when you dine for 5!
So, in case you and your family don't feel like cooking at home during the weekends
or just planning to have a nice dinner out, you can check out Mercato Restaurant.

Now you might say I got sponsored to say this but no.
I personally like the food there and I love how good the services are there.
Very friendly staffs and also very attentive.

Also, don't worry about parking.
You have an option of parking your car at the basement and 1st Floor which is connected
to the medical centre and the parking fee is RM1 per hour.
